Coaching at Beijing Mindfulness Center

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the BMC Academy coaching directory. Over the years, Beijing Mindfulness Centre has been supporting the community with mindfulness coaching and teaching on how to apply mindfulness in your daily life. Since 2021, BMC Academy has been training new coaches to become certified according to the competencies and ethics of the International Coach Federation.

As a Program Director, I mentor all coaches to ensure their approach is ethical and mindful. In this portal, you will find coaches who are beginners and those who have been coaching for a while and already gained their credentials. They are trained to use the mindfulness approach which means that at times they might use mindful experiments, invite you to be aware of the present moment, connect with your somatic wisdom and be curious and accepting of your insights.

Without further delay, I invite you to contact few different coaches and schedule a chemistry call before you make the final decision with whom you would like to start your coaching program. May your journey of self discovery be an adventure that brings joy and inspiration.

Before You Start

  • As your Coach, their job is to help you to take information and skills that you already have to:

    • Make decisions about which changes you would like to make

    • Bring mindful awareness of how these decisions impact your inner and outer world

    • Discern which actions you’d like to take to sustain your life quality, and

    • To support, encourage, mentor, and help you stay "on track" toward your goals.

  • Coaching

The ICF defines coaching as partnering with Clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. In coaching, clients are resourceful, creative and whole. The coach supports tapping into the resourceful states by using different coaching tools (e.g. questioning, clarifying, visualising, action planning etc.). Ethics are the key component of a coaching relationship.

    Behavioral Therapy

Behavior therapy aims to increase people’s skills so that they have more options for responding. By overcoming debilitating behaviors that restrict choices, people are freer to select from possibilities that were not available earlier. (Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy, by Gerald Corey)

Training: teaching a skill or type of behavior through practice and instruction over a period of time.

  • Prior to the commitment for coaching BMC coach and clients arrange a coaching call to identify coaching topics. This free session is also seen as a chemistry meeting when both the client and the coach confirm that there is a match between the needs and coaching methods. In case there is not a match the coach will refer the client to another coach or counselor for the client to continue to search for the most appropriate match.

  • Each coach will share their price as their coaching experience varies. Some coaches might have price packages, some might offer pro-bono sessions. You can contact each coach directly to schedule a chemistry call.

  • For the best outcomes coaching sessions are delivered 1:1 (in person or online) over 8 to 12 weeks.

  • At BMC we coach according to the ICF ethics. This means that sessions are confidential although we are obliged by the code of ethics to breach confidentiality if you might show an intention to harm yourself or others. In this event, coaches will inform BMC Academy mentors and International Coach Federation to guide them in giving you the support you might need. Please inform your coach if you are using any subscribed medication (anti-depressants or similar e.g. medication for bipolar, anxiety conditions etc.)

  • What we ask from you is to honour your commitment to personal growth, show up on time for sessions and provide feedback on what is and what is not working for you so Coaches can adjust their approach.
